Does Hereema has a problem or is he just going to do a JPD all the way over Australia to escape the next coming low ? :)

Now, about this block...

Just kidding. Have a great day everyone (tomorrow, for you right-side uppers).

Thanks for all your comments, clangers and cat calls. It's a great thread and a great race to follow.

Now for some serious eating and maybe some drinking....

In our corner of the globe, it's almost time for some serious drinking and maybe some eating. The xmas-eve party we always attend has a reputation of carrying on till daylight appears. Wildest event of the year for us, one you have to train your liver for :)

Agree this has been a great thread, even had a block party :)

Merry Christmas yall! Cheers.

oh come on, still allowed to tease a bit, no ? No, not at all !  :(

and indeed I do respect a lot what he is doing, especially considering that he didn't sail solo, before 2 years ago or something

Heerema is indeed going almost due north in order to try to to escape the next LP. Minus VMG, but as stated here xyz times, his primary goal is to keep the boat and himself in one piece. Rankings don't give a sh*t for him. The man is older than 95% or more of readers in this thread. Do what he does, when you are his age, or STFU. Vlogging a dead horse alert. Again. Disappointed.

In fairness, I think Yves was asking a question, not criticizing. Nothing wrong with expressing concern when a boat sails a strange angle.

Block party - what a great idea! We just sang some carols over here "Harken! The herald angels sing..." :)

Looks like AT got "fair winds and (mellow) following seas" for Xmas. Following the race on low BW from Palau, the trackers and SA still work pretty well.

Happy Holidaze All!

Gee Herman, it must be Christmas Spirit(s) that's got to you.

You're right. It is an expensive piece of equipment he owns.

Have you noticed Nador is pointing north as well. Maybe his buddy will catch him up.

Merry Christmas all. I'm about to eat, drink and be very merry.

B & G as a company could earn major points if they stepped up & helped. At this point Heerema seems only pissed at the install company.

As I understand him, the guy who sold him the B&G was contracted to also provide support during the race. Apparently he's refusing to respond to questions and requests for debugging information. Not sure why Heerema hasn't contacted B&G directly at this point, but it sure would be good for B&G to step up.

Myrtle Beach,
The same H5000 pilot is doing just fine on other boats. The install and commissioning are important details, that need to be right. If for example the rudder angle sensor has play in it, then the boat will be funky. If there was no motion sensor, or if its loose, or not near the center of motion, the pilot will be getting bad data. As noted by AT the wind sensor is a key piece, up on a wand at the top of a mast slamming for 45 days. A spare unit, for all key pieces is a reasonable spare.

Finally the NZ media has woken up to the existence of our only entry, Conrad. He has fought fires, climbed his mast, toiled manfully into 9th place and not a word mentioned in any mainstream media. Now it is Christmas and he sends a typically quirky Christmas message he finally gets 3 minutes on the national news. Hopefully they will now pay a bit more attention.

O I already read it. He had three wipe outs.

Better luck next time.
