The next 24 hours will be like watching a slow poker game played by drunks.

Alex will dance around gybing down the left hand lane when he can, some will follow him some won't. The light westerly is currently stopping him do too much at the moment other than power up and maintain BS. There appears to be more breeze closer the coast late tomorrow so I doubt any of the leaders will go too far away from that or in HB's case give away the leverage he has built up. The back markers and boats on the second row will crashing the party courtesy of fresh westerly tomorrow that will go NW and lighten as the fleet compresses through to Thursday

They will start to see the first puffs of the NE trades Thursday. Question is who is going to be jumping aboard that train first and with the best angle. It is going to be an interesting 36 hours.

On the podcast by Clean with VPLP, I believe they said something like: "you can sail in normal mode without the foils", with the understanding that your performance will suffer... and I wonder what angle you can achieve close to the wind...

Ok, again this question shows how little attention I've been paying to the new IMOCA rules.

Can the foils be moved inboard/outboard?

You could go plenty close to the wind if you didn't swing the keel, no? So, much less of a penalty in light air, than heavy.

Out of 28 only 3 has speed less than 10 knots. One of them is Alex. So, he will drop behind the lead group in few hours. The problem with britains - dont have guts to finish the Brexit.

Dont despair HB fans ...the car crash hits everybody ...for Alex sooner than others ....when that small amount of breeze backs right the left side should be favoured.
