If you plan to use Zezo for routing, here's a FAQ thread in the Zezo forum that should answer most of your questions about Zezo, as well as some questions about game mechanics, etc:

If Vendee will be your first time playing in a while (such as...  since the last Vendee) then some things have changed.  Here are a few key points that have changed in recent years...

  • The wind continuously evolves now with interpolations between GFS forecasts, rather than suddenly changing once every 6 or 12 hours.
  • If you don't buy a Full Pack, you'll have to obtain Cards.  You get two to start and then can open a barrel every 11 hours.  The barrel can give you two cards face-up, or three face-down.  The cards will be Autosails, Programmation, or Waypoints.  (If you've played with Help or Stealth cards before, those are gone).  I think all three functions have existed for years, and it's just the concept of needing to "play a card" to use a function that's relatively new...  so I'm not going to explain how each works.  I think the game has a tutorial for new users.
  • You can buy more cards using credits if necessary...  for example, if you need 3 programmations to sail through the night while sleeping, and only have one, you can buy a 5-pack using credits.  Which is fine if you have credits, but a bummer if you don't.  It's possible to spend real money to buy credits, but obviously preferable to avoid that.
  • Along those lines...  you can get credits for finishing races.  After you finish, go back into the finished race, and click the "Get" button next to the credit balance.  So...  if you're planning to do Vendee, and you want to be able to buy some Programmation cards, but you don't want to have to spend real money on credits, consider doing a couple races between now and then, even if you're starting the prologue late.  Consider buying zero sails and zero cards and just trying to get to the finish line.  Claim your credits for your finish position, and then have those available to spend on sails and/or cards for the real Vendee.
  • If you're thinking Full Pack for Vendee...  anticipate it'll cost a lot more than in the past.  I'm not sure what the Full Pack costs on a Category 1 event, because Cat 1 events are rare...  Probably somewhere in the US$28-35 range.  But if you have Full Pack, then Autosails is always on and you have unlimited Programmation and Waypoints.  The only limits are a cap of 9 Programmations or Waypoints at any particular time, and a general inability to use Programmation and Waypoints simultaneously.  I tend to buy Full Packs on inexpensive races with coastal racing where I'll want a lot of waypoints, and then I use the credits from those races to race without Full Packs on longer offshore events.  I'll probably break from that and buy the Full Pack for Vendee, just because it's the biggest event they do and I want to contend.

You're meant to download and use the app if you're on an IOS device.  It works much better that way anyway.  It won't run in Safari on IOS.  I don't know comprehensively what you can run it on if you want to avoid the app, but I know it'll work on Puffin.  I put Puffin on my phone a couple years ago when the app briefly had a fatal bug, to keep myself going until the bug was corrected.  But in my experience, everything was still sized for a larger screen, whereas the app is sized for the smaller screen.  Hence the app being preferable.

RumHam here, will be joining for the Vendee. In races so far have not been aware that there are routing programs like Zezo so will be great start using that. Have just used what was available within the app. 

I've always kind of figured that if I can see @Your Mom, I must be doing something right. Thanks for posting the link to Zezo
