Venue announcement postponed….

Maybe it's time to axe some heads and get people in charge of the venue selection who know how to deal cooperatively with the well-intentioned people in their home waters, Auckland.
We are a year past AC36 and solicitations went out to 40 cities 6 months even before that. No takers for what they are asking, the only face-up card is right in front of them looking them straight in the face from on their own table. But yes, that has been the word on these docks too for a while already, we should expect another delay.

It was interesting that in RG's article that got posted here today somewhere, noting how he never mentioned Jeddah even once, the city he mentioned by far the most times was... Auckland!
It could be the word he is hearing 'on the docks' too.

@Forourselvesis right: Auckland doesn't have the money. The AC Match might be postponed to 2025 but not the Venue Selection itself.
Secondly @Stingray~is confusing everything: Richard Gladwell said in his article that Auckland could be chosen as "Back Up" Venue in case some unforseen things happening in Europe. He did not mention Auckland being selected as Original Venue.
During AC36 Italy was selected as Back Up Venue if for some reason Auckland became unavailable.

Given how it turns out that there's no actual competition to come up with anything besides bullshit by a very few people in Spain, and since Auckland will be well aware of that too? Yes, maybe ETNZ should add a few bouys to the budget

A little dose of reality. Dalton has way over played his hand and is now caught all in with an un-winable hand. The AC is a big deal to sailing, but it doesn’t even move the meter in level of importance on just about any other scale.
Just as everyone has know, NZ deserves to host the cup at home. It is the only location that will get a real positive boost economically and emotionally from hosting the cup. Imagine having all of the teams based in Auckland for the run up to the cup. The city would be sold out, the national pride and recovery would be great.
It is very possible the March 31 date is held firm to by Ineos by their Protocol agreement and so ETNZ is forced to decide by then.
It is also possible that (even if the date gets postponed again) that the bid offers they have been able to get by whenever vary in some ways. They may not get all they are asking in for example the ratio of funds 'guaranteed blackbox-direct to ETNZ' versus funds put under the control of city/regional/provincial agencies to handle port infrastructure and event facilities and etc, much like what Auckland has already said they are happy to do. Like, umm, a logical separation of things.
