Clearly… given the current charade.
Wow, that's one helluva quote by 4. I may make it my new signature if GD does go down the Jeddah hellhole.

But not if it’s held in Spain with ME money? Funny set of principles you have there..

you seem to object to the location more than the funding. Strange.

Crazy that youd label Jeddah a “hellhole”. How very discriminatory of you.
Right, it’s not a hell hole , It’s a fucking shithole medieval country, run by psychopath.

Sounds like just your kind of place.

Anyone have a subscription or workaround?

Ben Ainslie queasy about possibility of America’s Cup contest in Saudi waters

Sir Ben Ainslie has questioned whether it would be right to hold the next America’s Cup in Saudi Arabia, saying that there are “better options” than Jeddah, which is yet to be ruled out of contention to stage the 2024 race.

Grant Dalton, chief executive of the champions, Team New Zealand (TNZ), is continuing to review his options before the deadline for announcing the venue for the 2024 defence on March 31, with the city in Saudi Arabia, where 81 people were executed on a single day this month, still an option.

Better tell that to Patrizio Bertelli, a highly respected Americas Cup team owner, who also does business in Saudi Arabia.

Also Mercedes who also runs a very successful F1 team, and just happens to be running the INEOS Team UK design team, who is also racing in Saudi Arabia next week.

Not bad for a shithole medieval country. Its managed to get some of the biggest and most lucrative sporting events in the world. No one cares what a few disgruntled armchair sailors on some internet forum think. They'll keep making big bucks while you keep complaining.

Will I watch if it goes to KSA? You're damn right I will! And so will you if you're completely honest.

So upon realising after all the shit they've been talking about European venues apparently not having any money, will or means to put together a formal bid, that they've all been once again, shat on lol, lets just talk about Jeddah again, as much as we can, but what about Jeddah? jeddah jeddah Jeddah, that way everyone is distracted from any other venues lol.

And yet a few days ago we were being told that Ben actively wanted Jeddah. Which I called as bullshit at the time. Which it was and is

As RG stated in his latest write up - venue sailing is allowed from June 1 to September 30, 2023, which means there is a little more than 12 months from today when the facilities need to be funded, designed, permitted, constructed, and commissioned.

No way in hell that is happening in 12 months, especially with the still lingering global supply issues.

The Auckland infrastructure project took around 12 months.

Assuming that they don't go back to Auckland the signs pointing that Barcelona will be getting the Nod from ETNZ/RNZYS! They have all the Infrastructure there + the City has hosted Major Sporting Events in the past, the 1992 Olympic Games, the 2003 FINA Swimming/Diving World Championships among others.

There is also a Rule when two Cities from the same Country bidding to host a Major Sporting Event the bigger City wins in 9 out of 10 Cases.

Anybody paying attention to what's happening with the F1 race in Jeddah?

A missile struck an oil refinery a few miles from the track during the first practice session. The drivers had to be convinced to race, with some of the "information" provided to them being that they may not be allowed out of the country if they don't race.

I put my money on somewhere in Saudi in the past, but that's going to be hard to ignore.

Yes, we do, in the Jeddah thread.
