A very famous Canadian yacht is for sale - Red Jacket. RJ was built as an extreme race boat, at least by 1966 standards. It won the SORC in 1966, which was a big deal back in the day. RJ established C&C as a player in yacht racing. It apparently was the first cored hull built in North America. Has been well looked after by various owners but was donated to the Great Lakes Marine Museum in Kingston. Apparently, they decided they did not want a sailboat. Seems pricey and I can imagine that the potential buyer list is short.

There is no "buyers list" for that boat.

Instead there will be a short list of potential custodians to be thoroughly vetted prior to further discussions - A La Mayan and other special boats. ;)

Next to Bluenose and the Laser that is arguably the most significant sailboat in Canadian history

the Major could sell off his fleet of brand new c&c 43s to fund this.

Somebody at RCYC might buy it just so they can live in reflected glory. Old stuff like this matters around there.
A time ago when it was for sale, after Phalen?, I was mildly interested in purchasing her and was told it would only be sold to another RCYC member so it could continue to be docked just behind the grand old clubhouse. Apparently the not-so-grand Whitby YC would not cut it, even though we have reciprocal privileges with RCYC and they could come for visits. It is a very pretty boat, but seems expensive since it is not right out of a refit.

New rig, keel, rudder and interior. Probably replaced all the deck hardware as well.
The only things left from the boat that went to SORC are the hull and the name.
