Waterproof Deck Plates?

I've had good luck with Beckson's over the years, even using the smaller ones in places where there could have been a problem if they broke. There were probably 8 of them exposed on my old boat that just went around the Horn, so I think they work. I lube the seals and threads with a dab of pure silicone grease.

New o-rings, or a bit of silicone grease (not sealant) on the o-rings, and as Zonk said, make sure they are clean.
