I had a bogus WF credit card account opened in my name about 5 years ago .

I went into full ID theft mode and canceled all accounts and cards and passwords / pins, etc.

What a colossal cluster fuck and waste of time.

I'd like to see those assholes burned at the stake.

Anybody else get nicked?

I've had a Wells Fargo business account for about 15 years. They're expensive, but no problems with security or the bank itself. A co-worker had his account with them ripped off, he thought someone went through his trash and got the numbers to make some bogus charges.

My wife had the same thing with WF and BoA.... I've never heard of anyone having a good experience with BoA.

I opened an acct, in a small "community" bank in Nocal in 86. It was fine.... 4 months later, it got gobbled up by BoA, and my acct kept showing up over drawn (it wasn't and a half hour trip to the bank every month cleared it up every time), I switched to another "local bank".... 2 months later it was bought out by BoA, and the same shit started happening. I moved to the last non-BoA bank in the town, and all was fine...... Until they got gobbled up by BoA...... I moved across the country to get away from them.

I had a job a decade or so that had payroll and accts payable through WF...... first two weeks I waited for my pay patiently. I finally called the client, who called WF and then called me back to tell me that WF's policy was net 90 freakin' days to get each weeks receipts. I told the customer after the first month that any further work was cash on delivery, no exceptions.

i had my ident stolen.

the perp opened up three consecutive landline phone accounts with verizon before verizon caught on. and he opened up a CC and nicked the credit card for about 8K before they caught on.

Then on morning the CC company called me asking when i was going to pay up... I told them I don't have a card with them and hung up. Persistent buggers kept calling. so I finally relented and listened to the company. When they started listing address where I have not lived, I informed them that they got a bigger problem.

So i ran my credit is when I found the Verizon bull shit. So I filed a police report in VA. they did not care since the perp lived in MD, so I called MD they did not care since the victim lived in VA... I think the crime is so common now, and since its usually just a minor financial crime, with no bodily injury, its not high on the radar screen for investigators. Which means the perps just keep doing it.

Don't know why anyone would voluntarily work with BoA. I've only had a few dealings with them; each time they went well out of their way to be buttwipes. They even refused to honor a check drawn on their branch unless I opened account with them. I (loudly) told them that their was no way in hell I was going to have a permanent business relationship with them.

We have been compromised 3 times in the last 10 yrs... Granted first time was because my wife had her purse stolen with the checkbook in it, but I include that as it was the biggest pain in the ass of em all. Basically before we had everything online. She/we had to get all the checks voided and find proof that the 800 spent at blockbuster was not ours... Frigging blockbuster..... my god, even then, who in the fuck would spend $800 at blockbuster.....??? Wifie had them pull security tapes and they got the time and the guy that did it.. Cops did shit, but our bank finally ceded that we did not do it... The other 2 were straight up cc numbers stolen... one was our debit card so some payments bounced which our credit union straightened out almost right away.... The banks are getting so used to it that they just write it all off. Which does not bode well for consumers. We are in the habit to never use debit to buy anything on line and basically have a permanent hold with all the credit agencies so no one can open an account without jumping through hoops... Seems to work, and it has stopped us from getting stupid credit on a whim at BestBuy, HD etc, more than once...

When my wife's sister's house burned to the ground one day while they were at work (Thank goodness!), my wife went to her branch of BoA with a check made out to herself for $2,000, so she could drive up to VT to help her sister..... BoA teller refused to cash it. Said it needed to be held for 1 week to make sure there were sufficient funds...... In my wife's acct. at BoA in the same branch....

I was in Florida on a job at the time, but I called up my little home town bank, talked to a person there who knew me, and asked them to take 2K out of my acct and give it to my wife. They did. The next week, after my wife came back down from taking care of her sister, she closed her BoA acct (Which they initially tried to prevent her from doing), and opened an acct. with my old home town bank. We now live in Florida, but most of our accts are still in the old bank up north. Just a local checking acct. here with a bank that's not BoA or WF.

Why do people still use these huge banks? Too big to fail, too big to give a fuck about you.

When I was in college I was stupid enough to use NBD bank (now 5th/3rd). I left over christmas break. When I came back, I had a late notice. My christmas shopping took my balance below five dollars in my checking. So they charged me a fee. They tried to pay using my savings (one of the 'automatically help you' things), which was also almost empty. Overdrew that. Another fee. Then another fee for being below $5 in THAT account because they emptied it to pay the other fees. Then at the end of the month (Dec 31) they tacked late fees on to both accounts.

I came back to these assholes wanting something like $250 in fees. When I left Dec 8th, I had like $8 in the accounts. I walked in, closed the accounts, and told them I wasn't fucking paying the fees they created.

Go to your credit union. Better service, cheaper rates, and you own a part of it.

Never had an issue with them. My First Interstate money was lost, the local WF bank branch manager paid my bills by hand till they found my money took 4 weeks!

With our recent loss of grandpa and my wife being the trustee. I will say this....

People die..... Banks have policies in place to address this aspect of life and death. The issues we have run into is complete incompetence of a large number of banking employees that just leaves you shaking your head wondering how the fuck do they hire these people?

The used car sales jobs, and real state agent jobs are all taken, and the career counselors at the junior college have family in banking...... They can help.
