I don't know why Jon couldn't hit the high notes on "And you and I" in 1975 (prior post) but here he is spot on in the mid 2000's (about 2:10 of video below).
ELP bootleg with Star Trek Original Series Bloopers
Bootlegs range in quality from flat spinning Brillo pads to good professional quality ephemeral recordings.
This one is the latter. Must have been done by a pro, or an inside job from the soundboard take. Also it is from the 1974 Anaheim ELP concert, which most of the legit "Welcome back my friends, to the show that never ends" is pulled from.
But to mix things up a bit, someone who had access to some vintage original-series Star Trek raw takes sprinkled in what is a William Shatner acting masterclass.
Is everyday a hung over Monday for Mr. Shatner? Did Eastman Kodak pay him to generate so many outtakes to sell more 35mm stock, or, is - he - just - the.most - affectatious - actor - of.all.time? How many times must have said "keep rolling, keep rolling" over the three seasons, with Leonard Nimoy rolling his eyes and whispering his cues?
Glen Glenn of Hollywood did the sound for Star Trek so my guess is this bootleg is the (fine) work of a GG employee.
