What boots / shoes for trapeze?

I have some Zhik boots but they are really for hiking, they feel too bulky and stiff for trapeze. I dont need high end, just something comfortable and gripy with some feel to help my confidence on the wire.

I was wondering if a shoe is better than a boot, or is a boot a good idea for ankle protection? What have ones have you found work for you? Unfortunatley it is pretty difficult here in Western Australia to find anywhere with a good range to be able to go compare them.

Thanks

My preference are split toe surfing booties. They don't roll, are soft so I can curl my toes around deck fittings or the rail to get extra grip and tend to slip less than anything else I've used.
