The people, the culture, the trash talking! You can tell stories about adventures without having to explain yourself.... Example, you're trimming main when the puff comes on and the boom is in the water and the chute starts to fill....what do you do??And people here know exactly what you are talking about...Do you think any of my co-workers, my golf buddies, or the stripper I am getting a lap dance from know what I just said....that's right... The daily news and pics are great, no where else do you get this much (candid) info on sailing.

You can either ask a sailing question or comment here and get at least 10 answers right away (some of them good) or often many more --- or ask anywhere else on the internet and maybe get 0 to 3 answers within a week. No contest.

There are a few people to steer clear of here (diff strokes for diff folks to be sure), but that's what Ignore is for.

And if you're from somewhere with nasty winters (no sailing), this fix is just the ticket to make it through to the next launch...

Quite true. Between "what's it rate" and "show us your tits" no wonder there are so many on here with thousands of posts. B)

Otherwise, the breadth of knowledge on here is fascinating. Ask a question about ANYTHING -- photography, taxes, refrigeration, cars, hardware, software, religion, law, Lopolights, tensiometers, splicing nuts, hull design -- and you'll get a ton of good answers with valuable input. Of course it helps if you have the gumption to filter out the stupid shit that comes with it.

Oh yeah, and big time entertainment.

I'm here for the fun. Always great news and updates, thanks to the Ed, Mr. Clean, and all who contribute. Even the flaming liberal Bush bashing is quite entertaining. For those of us that are confined to small lake sailing, it keeps us in touch with the rest of the world.
