What, if anything, does the citizen owe society?

It's not "demonizing" to tell the truth.

I thought you were one of those tough individualistic he-man types, in favor of freedom of speech? Nope, you're just a crybaby snowflake.
Have you ever figured out how much you spend on booze each year?

Howard Roark weighs in:

“There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old’s life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs."

Sorry you didn’t like Americas response to a pandemic under President Trump. Fortunately, citizens listened to their doctors and health policy professionals & not to ignorant blowhards like you.

We’ve recovered faster than any other country in the world, and almost of us are glad to be out the other side, while no-nothings like you might try and paint that as a failure because you hate America and support mediocrity & disinformation based on social influencers like Tucker and friends.
I guess individual freedom is not so important so long as you don't get a sniffle. Fuck that pesky constitution thing about life liberty and the pursuit of happiness. It was written by bunch of privileged rich white guys anyway.

that's fucking 100% accurate. Ayn Rand's superpower was empowering the stupid and bitter by making them think they're smart.

The Great Society is a failure and the too busy with their lives ham an eggers of this country have awoken and they are angry.
There is a fundamental shift underway and a rejection of big government social programs and top down policies intruding into every aspect of society is in for a facial!
Election integrity and verifiable voter ID is at the top of the list along with states counting mail in ballots as they arrive.

This is basically what the Nazis did, seriously. "There are unhealthy unfit defective people over there that are ruining our country. We'll get rid of them one way or another and then all will be well".
Didn't work out.

You know that eugenics - a very close cousin, was a popular movement in the good ole US of phucking A in the early 1900s and was very popular with the progressive society.

The highly respected liberal Oliver Wendell Holmes was in the movement's vanguard - you know - free speech, the right for labor to organize, and shit like that...

Do you acknowledge that the current trend of increasing numbers of people moving from pulling the wagon to riding in the wagon is unsustainable?
I do not acknowledge that this trend exists, and nor should you.

The types of people telling you that the deadbeats/welfare queens/drag queens/LGBTQ/jews/whatevers/fill-in-the-blank are the cause of societal financial woes - giving you someone to kick down on - are in fact the same ones who are hoarding the resources and causing the financial woes.

They're also the same types of people who told you the voting machines were rigged, and now have to pay 3/4 Billion dollars for lying to you. Why do you keep believing them?

What would those disaffected (mostly) under-educated old white folk do if they got the election reforms you described and continued to get their clocks cleaned?

If by “a sniffle” you are referring to reefer trucks parked out back of hospitals to handle the dead, no space for stroke or heart attack patients, EMS teams in HAZMAT suits, cops dying in droves then please tell the class why you won’t back the blue & hate nurses.

I am aware of the Eugenics movement. It also was a failure and just like it did with the Nazis who saw it and liked it, ended up as yet another way to get rid of "those people".
If you are maybe being clever and trying to make 2020s Progressives the same people as 1920s Progressives, most of us know enough history to know that the ideology of various movements and political parties has not been static for a century. Woodrow Wilson, for one example, was a horrible racist and would not come within 100 miles of being a Democrat today.
