Very interesting. One of my all time favorite boats.
Our's too... a lot of thought went into the remodel... She was wet around the gas fill and it was time for a face lift. We just took it to a new level.

As the pit man... the seats limited movement and crew placement. When on a downhill run, getting aft of the skipper was a pain. I don't see that being a problem.

Furthermore, the mod is about 15lbs net heavier than what was cut out... meaning no hit on ORR or PHRF.

We'll be in Chicago this year for mac.

Best of luck with the new-ish ride.

One of the most fun sails I have ever had was in an Olson . We ripped the spin pole car track off the mast in sections until all we had left was about 12" of track. I have no idea how fast we were going. We were all a bit busy at the time. But as I recall we sustained a full plane from Shilshole to Pt. Wilson, about 35 miles.

Since you've done that, you may as well complete the modernization of the boat and put on one of these:

We're mostly buoy racers... however, we do have an A1 and A3 that we use on distance race. No plans for a sprit though... our foredeck is too good to waste like that... HA!

Carbon Traveller support.... dry fit before the primer...

New mounts for a level winch.... and new proper turning block mounts for Spin and Gen sheets.... Twing turning block will take the line in board and run along the cabin.

very, very nice. Though I spy a spot or 2 of the dreaded orange peel. That was my nemesis when i did gelcote repair at a Grady White dealership. It always seemed to happen on projects at the most inopportune time. I tried all sorts of additives, and climate control situations, but some times it just plain happened anyway.
