The boat was design to race in class as well as in a future in the U.S., in IRC. I am the owner of the second boat "patagonia", due out next week.

We created the boat for around the cans races both inshore as well as offshore.

We race the boats typically in the southern ocean, where in January is the Rolex Cup in Punta del Este, by the way a great event.

During the year is basically in Buenos Aires, and in July we race in Brazil, also in the Rolex Cup of Ilhabela.

The S40 is a very light boat (4200Kg) where 1800Kg is in the bulb.

All asym. are very large (180Sq meters) making very fast runs.

The idea behind the boat, was that we wanted something very fast and fun, we negotiated prices alot to make the boat easily affordable (for someone looking for a 36+ foot boat).

The boat in Argentina runs for Aprox. US$ 270K from the shipyard, including 30Hp volvo engine, and carbon mast and PBO rigging.it included everything except sails and instruments. I believe there is almost no duties to get the boat to the US, just the freight.

It is constructed by Mboats in Buenos Aires.

Just to make things clear I do not sell the boat, nor make money on it, we (Me and Cusi, the first boat out) just created the class to have fun, and we hired the design from Javier Soto, and made the design available for future members of the class.

Beautiful boat Norberto

I am interested to know what are the differences between hull number one and your boat?

The most obvious one is that you have chosen a wheel over a tiller

Hull #1 is white and Hull #2 is Blue. That is the biggest difference. These boats are being build to a OD standard. They hope to have an OD fleet down there.

Hull #1 is a tiller and hull #2 is a wheel, I would say that is a big difference if they were aiming for an OD Standard.

Already pulling apart the OD.

I know that other notable OD (Farr 40, J105, TP52, & Benaslow) classes have tiller/wheel agreements but I have always felt the class should decide on one if it truly wants to be recognized as a OD class.

Hi. TIim Long here, the representative in Australia (Asia Pacific) for the S40 One Design. I have been trying to get contacts for some of the S40 owners in BA. I have the Editor of Australian Sailing arriving there on Wednesday to do a boat test and I have not been able to contact the factory for a week or so. Perhaps you have some contacts for the owners?

Thanks

Tim
