What is the most pain you have ever felt

Or get shingles- by far my worst pain. On the top of my head- the only description I could give at the time is someone had a grinder with 40 grit working on the top of my head for about four hours. I was lying in my bed and every few minutes would look to see what I was sure was massive amounts of blood and tissue on the sheets. Would go to the mirror and see some red bumps. Complete disconnect between the pain and reality as the pain is right in the nerves. Now years later the top of my head feels like it had a grinder on it years ago.

Shingle got in my eye so I ended up with the sensation that a piece of grit was in my eye, and no way to get it out for about a month- that ws a different kind of pain.

Right before the new Shingrex vaccine came out- I convinced a lot of people to get that.

Lol … not such a thing as nerve pain
Simple test next the you have a root canal 🦷
You’d break bones trying to get out of the chair without nerve block

You just didn't comprehend the post. I didn't say there is no pain, I said the term 'nerve pain' is a marketing ploy.

But I will digress on one of your points ... something some of you may find useful.

Root canals are a temporary fix that will eventually get an infection that you will not even notice.

Had a RC years ago. About ten years later I found that I could not drive more than 10 mins without having trouble staying awake, so I chewed gum, that worked. The crown on the root canal failed (probably because of excess chewing) so went to get it fixed and the x-ray showed infection in the root that was eating into my jaw. No pain at all.

Opted to extract it and worry about an implant later. No choice really.

I scheduled an appointment months later. Dentist said "So you want to proceed with an implant now?" I said "No, I only came back here to ask you something. I can now drive for as long as I want, I feel great since that extraction. I didn't even know I was so rundown. Is it a coincidence? Do other patients report this?

He didn't even blink and said "Of course, it's common. It also affects people's hearts, some have arythmia go away. Glad to hear your story though." I think he was disappointed, he wanted the implant job now.

I joke that, after giving birth, a woman's body begins to produce and secrete a new type of proteinaceous hormone - Forgetin.

My wife says it has a ring of truth.

Her experience on both births was the "ring of fire" is a very real thing.
The forgetin is real I believe.

Mine did the second one with no painkillers, tried acupuncture instead. Bit of a sight with needles and curly wires hanging off each leg and foot! Later she said it still hurt and she had no way of knowing if it helped or not.

But that's better than having them claw at you in the middle of it all screaming "You fucking arsehole, you fucking did this to meeeeeeee!"

My Uncle showed me how to hold my wife's hand while she was in labor, in such a way she wouldn't break my wrist. Like his wife did to him. Just like you do with arm/wrist wrestling.

Pretty substantial power in a slight woman (my wife) when the contractions took hold. And, her voice dropped at least one octave. Had a ring of "The Exorcist" to it.

Aortic Dissection. If you give in to the pain you black out, then you die. 50 % upon onset, then 10% die every hour. I lasted 3 days before medication, and one week before surgery. If you can't accept Gods humor it's probably best to give in. You are basically tearing yourself apart in the nest of nerves that control your heart. If you make it they reenforce your aorta with a Dacron sock... one of the surgeons said" it looks heavy sailcloth". Gods' humor. If your or anyone around you is experiencing a tearing around your heart, get help immediately. Other than tearing crushing pain there are no warning signs.

I did a Steube a few years ago. As I fell I tried to remember everything I learned in Judo. The weather changed, I feel the screw.

Per my EMT relative, not many people ever experience 10/10 pain outside of plane crashes, train wrecks or war zones.

On their triage scale, 10/10 is where you're incapacitated and either writhing and screaming continuously, in shock and can't move or make a sound, or just pass out.

8/10 Kidney stones. Apparently comparable to childbirth, from those who have experienced both.
7/10 Broken femur.

Having a large piece of gel-like material inserted up my ass and injected between my colon and my prostate, prior to 5 weeks of daily radiation for prostate cancer. No anesthesia. Of course the 12 inch needles they put up your ass for the biopsy was no fun either.

Had a business neighbor that called me up on day, said "You may have noticed that I've been missing for a couple weeks". He had been feeling a bit funky for a few days. Avid runner, but still smoked, mid 60's. Went into his doctor's office. Doctor said "Give me your Phone and Wallet, if you're not on the operating table in 15 minutes you'll be DEAD!" An hour later, heart and lungs were out. Amazingly, he recovered pretty quickly, but mostly retired after that!

Kidney stones.

If you wanted to invent the perfect tactual weapon against ground forces, figure out how to make the opposing army pass kidney stones on command by some mechanism.

11 on a scale of 10. Thank all the gods for the prescience of the Greek god of sleep - Morphine.

Kidney stones, painful but I regularly piss ‘em out now (5-6mm!).

L1-L2 disc played hell with me a year ago, couldn’t move it hurt so bad. Much painful.

But the worst? 2nd & 3rd degree burns. Twice. The kind where my skin was either ballooned out in massive pillows of blister or sheeting off of my body; fortunately the third degree were only one time & relatively small patches compared to the seconds I had that time. Laying in the ER I wanted to die, no question, until the morphine showed up but that only lasted so long. And then there’s the dermabrasion during recovery.

I have a very high tolerance for pain, but serious burns, never again…my heart aches whenever I hear of someone who’s been severely burned, especially kids.
