What music gives you the goose?

I was listening to a fav podcast, talking about a study looking at physiological effects of music.

Resarch method was to have participants choose a non-vocal piece of music that "sent shivers up their spine" when they listened to it. The researchers placed the participants in an MRI, played the tune and watched the brain. Can't remember what the outcome was, it made them feel good or something.

I'm curious - what tunes send a shiver up your spine?

Oletta Adams singing "don't let the sun go down on me" with the tears for fears band.

David gilmour did this live DVD and did this song "blue" with Graham Nash and David Crosby which is pretty moving.

I have a record with fripp and eno backing Peter Gabriel singing 'here comes the flood" which makes women moan.

Sing sing sing live by Benny Goodman and gene krupa in 1938 at Carnegie hall is pretty awesome.

Some of the violin leads on mclaughlins shakti albums are tingling.

The horn solo on 'time loves a hero' on little feats waiting for Columbus album is pretty fucking amazing.

Shit. My wife wants me to rub her feet. Gotta go.

I really like classic 60-80s hard rock, and classic Metal, and some modern metal bands. No, not popular screamy stuff, but I love Folk and European Power Metal. Some thrash, like, two of the big four, such as Metallica and Megadeth, but I would rather listen to Power Metal, Trance Metal, or Folk/Viking metal any day than pop metal/pop rock/pop.

Along the same lines of "how music physically affects a person", I heard a conversation the other night where the Boston Marathon does not allow participants to use iPods/headphones while they are running because it gives them an unfair advantage over runners that do not listen to music. The reasoning was something along the lines of it helped them keep a rhythm and could possibly control their heart rate... Dallas marathon organizers are studying the data to see whether they should be doing the same.

Edit: Oh yeah... Edgar Winter "Frankenstein"
