That boat is a complete shit show. Maybe he is one of these guys

OMG........I had to stop after 5 minutes. What a complete bunch of .............! I would never ever go offshore with that crew.

@shubrook has a surefire defense.

1. Play 10 minutes of that video.
2. Stop the video. Allow a few moments of stunned silence
3. Shubrook speak slowly , carefully and remorsefully.
" Ladies and Gentlemen of the panel. First of all, I want to apologize to anyone and everyone offended by my charade .......but I had to get off that boat. It was just too dangerous. I could not come up with another plan. I needed the Bermuda Customs and Immigration to deny me entry and I needed it to be believable. I am so sorry about the table but my skipper had to think that it was real . "

I watched about 30 seconds of it and my only thought was wtf are they even doing? This guy has zero business sailing offshore. Can't wait to hear "his side" of why he threw a 2 year in the height chair doesnt want to eat his dinner style hissy fit at 34 years old.

You were nearly at the front of the line. If you had put your mask on at that point you'd have had to wear it for maybe 20 minutes.

Are you talking about the cartoon movies, or did he actually tape himself being an asshole???

Is it the guy in the orange jacket? He's got an Aussie or Kiwi accent or something? Good to see everyone in harnesses in fairly calm weather and waves, right close to shore?
Seems like some newbies aboard, as he's schooling them on proper genoa trim???
.
I regret that he sure sounds Aussie, possibly spent time in the uk as well. If it is him.

I'd prefer seeing one hand on the boat all the time developing cat skills rather than clipping on all the time, in such benign weather, but that's just me.

So far he seems like a self important wannabe / wanker. Very possibly in the figjam club.

Send him to the roaring 40s for some character building. I'd suggest somewhere in the vicinity of Port Arthur in winter, but fkt would probably have a fit.

And if he is Aussie, I can imagine the welcome home committee, should he ever decide to return, would be rather frosty.

Shubrook..... You fucked up big time. The sailing community has a very long memory.

It seems the people who want this guy hung out to dry mostly want it because of his anti-mask motivation, as opposed to his actual conduct. Although I understand his frustration, I won't defend his conduct; it was childish at best and certainly deserves some reprimand. We have seen much worse conduct from sailors, both pro and amateur, yet people have not called for Rule 69 and some have often opposed it.

So, why is his motivation relevant? What punishment do you see as appropriate for his actual conduct?
Punching, kicking, throwing, smashing, inanimate objects while protesting against some rule you do not like is a direct threat of violence for not getting his way.

If it were me I would bar him from the next three N2B races to give him time to grow up and take care of the anger management issues he appears to have. I would also bar him from the grounds of the NYYC and RBYC for the remainder of the season.

If I were an immigration official in Bermuda I would impose a 5 year denial of entry to the country, again time to get anger issues sorted out.

The issue with the mask is that it is not a big deal to wear one, regardless of why. If there were no pandemic but the immigration agents were going through chemotherapy, I would have no problem with a strict rule that all competitors wear masks when in line and checking in. It's not about me, or you, or him, it's bigger than that. That's the take away here.

Agreed, the juvenile violence supersedes the anti-mask Bullshit. If you are going to play with adults, best act like one, no exceptions!!

Unless his "argument" is that he's a Type I Bipolar and was off his meds I don't know what feat of rhetoric would justify throwing a tantrum, flipping tables and ripping down signage.

Seriously what a fucking man-child.

You're all missing the point, remember Shustink had to wait in a line and he was asked to wear a mask. It doesn't matter that everybody else was waiting in the same line wearing masks.

They are not as special as Shustink! Clearly, he's very special...

The hilarious thing is that this asshole Jimmy boy is so tone deaf, and so lacking in self-awareness, that he started this thread thereby informing thousands of sailors from around the world that he is an absolute uber muppet / loser... basically no one would have known about this except for this thread. But now we all know the boat, the sailors real name (I think the person that outed him should get a pass, btw)! what a fool.

I love the way that this video is introduced "Joel and I were invited to race with an experienced captain and crew "

how embarrassing to be caught on video saying "Its game day and winners want the ball" and then set up a series of hilarious shit show mistakes.

I feel sorry for the owner skipper. Without James' "episode", this video would never have surfaced but now his boat is a laughing stock.
Is James May really a sailmaker......or is he a sailmaker wannabe....because he doesnt know what he is doing with the gen' trim.
