Seems like an awesome boat. How many expected in newport this summer? Is there another way to access the tuning guide? I was not able to load it through the VX forum.

Last I heard (back in August), VX Fleet 5 was figuring on 7 local boats in Newport for 2014. That was just before the Newport VX demo weekend though, so perhaps more now? Anyway, they usually race Monday nights out of Fort Adams. On Brian's tuning guide, I think you may need to register on the VX forum to be able to download the file. Hope that helps

very cool. the chute launch/retrieval system seems very well thought out. I will definitely head down to fort adams this summer to check it out.

We need a fleet in the San Francisco Bay Area. Would be fun on Lake Tahoe, and the well loved Huntington Lake also.
Sounds like it is time to buy a boat if you think there needs to be a fleet!

We all thought there needed to be a fleet also so five of us joined the one guy who already had one and ordered them!

About 4 months. Granted we did order as they started the switch from being built here in the US to Ovington. So that delayed things to a certain extent. Plus the boats are going to Miami first where several of the new owners are meeting them and sailing them then coming to Oklahoma.

Very Nice indeed. A well done promo that shows the boat nicely. Unless I missed something, it is long overdue.

Thanks for the info, do keep us updated.

You need a "tracking number" for the shipment. ;)

Quicker now, six left here Monday (see Ovi Facebook for pictures)

First UK delivery in a week or two (waiting on sails) and second UK boat demo almost finished...Next batch of six underway and new tooling made, now three sets of moulds in existance.

Fill your boots...

Great video - you guys are doing a great job of getting the general public and consumer base excited !! :) Great to see with this activity / sport. As a suggestion it may help to also indicate its a 1-3 man boat (versus of 2-3), given Intensity Sails makes a smaller main and there are videos of folks single handing on youtube, and it also opens up the market a little wider; there are folks looking for an all around boat that they can just "take out" without a crew each and every time, and in the SF Bay area, hard to even find.

How does VX One compare to K-6 speed wise? K-6 trying to catch some traction on Bay. VX One definitely promotes themselves much better. More expensive though. Melges 20 prob not going to catch on here cause so over-priced. Have to think one of these 2-3 man boats will have a shot with the direction new boat buyers are headed.

I haven't personally sailed the K6 yet. The VX will do upper 5's / low 6's upwind. It really trucks to windward when sailed loaded and holding it flat. Downwind you can see speeds of 20 knots plus in the right conditions. Max registered its 24 knots. 13 to 16 knots of hull speed are common across fleets in winds between 12 to 16 aprox, so that kind of gives an idea of what the boat is about. Then anybody that have some hours on the K6 can let you know, same as on the Melges 20.

The spinnaker tack line is not independent of the launch/retrieval system and you cannot really ease it separately (as far as I know.) Normally, the spinnaker tack should be right up against the end of the bowsprit when flying the kite. If there is tack line visible while flying the kite, I would think that the bowsprit is not fully extended. On the VX polar, here's one that was posted on the prior vxonedesignracing.com website. Hope that helps
