Yup. Mid 80's 308, made in Japan. With a 3-7x optic it's a nearly perfect hunting rifle for North America with a bit more class than a tupperware bolt action. The magazines are expensive, but other than having a spare there's not really any need for more. The pencil barrel profile heats up quickly and accuracy drops after 3 or 4 rounds.

Tres Cools.

Acchh. I get sweaty palms if I don't have 4-6 magazines for any firearm that needs them. My favorite .45, an HK pistol, only has three mags, and I have to keep it really far back in the safe, so I don't shoot it too much.

Hmm, didn't know that about the barrel. The Mini-14 disease. Thanx.

Help a guy out. These came with my Mossberg 930 spx shotty. They are paired, the big ones plastic, the smaller ones metal. They have labels engraved like .325 rise, .250 drop etc. I’m guessing they are a sighting adjustment but for the life of me I cannot find anything about them. What are they?

They are a set of inserts to adjust the stock for a precise fit to the shooter. There should be an owners manual available on Mossberg‘s site.

What OJ said

If you’re only doing home defense you can probably use the out of the box set up

YMMV

This seems relevant to recent discussions:

I agree to some extent with him in certain scenarios.
For concealed carry out in public I don't carry a light on my gun. The odds of me "searching" for a bad guy off duty with my gun out is extremely low. I do carry and hand held light in that scenario. If I am looking around then I will use the hand held light.

On duty I carry a light because I regularly have to go looking for bad guys in dark areas. You can't work a door or move object with a gun and light in either hand so I use my weapon light a lot but obviously also have a hand held light on my person. Plus I'm rarely doing anything sneaky, most of the time I'm announcing myself as the police so anyone I'm running into knows I'm there and is either hiding or can't respond.

In my home my go to pistol has a light because I want to be able to identify targets and once again may have to work a door or something else to get to a different area of the house and I generally aware of who should be in my house and where they are so if I happen to be searching for someone who shouldn't be there I'm fine if they get a gun pointed at them.

The last point is that many of us don't shoot well with two hands on the gun, removing one hand to hold a flashlight doesn't improve that at all.

My last addition for now is a WML for my shotty. Thinking about a red dot for the Glock but I'll continue to ruminate on that. As I've mentioned before any shooting I have the misfortune of doing will be at a very close range. I should be able to make a few hits with 10 rounds. No sight needed on the shot. Once again the ghost ring sights seem to be working just fine for me at the range. Being a semi auto I can get all 7 rounds off in under 10 seconds. Once again in the stairwell or other close range situations 7 rounds ought to hit something important.

I’m still thinking about it. I always confuse what I want with what I need……or so Mrs PB reminds me. 🤣
Yuppers. Then again, when it comes to your pink assets, it's best to err on the side of caution and capability. I've already got the HS 507K G and the slide is packed-up to get the cut.

Who made the light mount for your splatter gun? Looks interesting.

We are in a race then, if my slide didn’t go today it’ll be on its way to the CNC tomorrow.

Definitely, not a race: you win. I went with CH, with a 4 freakin' week backlog, because they'll Black Nitride the slide again. All because: in Floriduh, plastic rusts.
I was all set to go with CH and had been in touch with them. I stopped by a GS that has done some work before just to ask about a slide cut and he hands down said the place he uses is excellent and the turn around is good with Cerakote included, he does the Cerakote and whomever he sends to the optic milling $120 walk away price , I went with my trust in his word and a personal connection. Price savings is just a plus . The G48 has a silver factory slide and I decided on Cerakote Tungsten.
