I’ve carried a Swiss Spartan for 40+ years, I feel naked without it in my pocket. 9-11 put a crimp in my style especially when flying with a carry on .

Forgot to ask: You have the Shield Armory S15 15 Round mags for the 48? With them, the 48 is the size and capacity of a 19 - only a 1/4" thinner.
And my fav-o-rite carry.
No , I understand that there is a conflict with mag release needed for the S15 and also using factory G mags .
Glock makes a 14 round mag but it is not a flush fit at the butt.
Which mag release are you using and do you soley use S15’s or are you able to mix and match with factory mags?

I run the Shield Arms 15 round magazines in my 48 and 43x, the poster after you is correct that you need to change out the magazine release due to the magazines being metal and the release being plastic. Under recoil the metal mag will wear on the plastic release and eventually cause malfunctions. Changing them out is a very simple process and anyone with some mechanical skills shouldn't worry about it, there are Youtube videos everywhere on how to do it.

The 43x and 48 with the 15 round magazine and a red dot make the ultimate conceal carry gun, I've been nothing but impressed with that set up.

Yes , I don’t plan to conceal carry and between a 43x and a 48 I already have a bunch on mags for the two.
I am in the home defense and range fun category.

Perfect description of my interests as well. I can’t see me ever carrying……never say never, but I have no interest and don’t perceive a need. I suppose that could change but it would have to get very very bad before I’d consider it. Of course…….I never thought I’d have one for HD either. Not happy about it but not afraid of it either.

Like the Boy Scout’s motto.
Yep The “Summer of Love” scared the crap out of me, especially when the LEO were ordered to stand down. I can’t imagine that happening where I live, state and county.
I do plan on buying a holster if the time ever comes, I want two free hands .

I've put away the silly Glock 10 rounders and use nothing but the Shield S-15 mags. 'bout a year/ two ago, Shield had a killer deal on the metal (steel) latch (prolly the standard latch) and several mags and extendos. I bought.

Now they've got a similar Z9 mag for the 43. I want to hear a little more about reliability before I jump on that one.

I get it and if I was starting from scratch I would go the S15 route even for my criteria . I think the Holosun 507 is going to help my wife at the range. I’ve been fooling around with it in my hand and of the 3 settings the dot with the ring seems like it would be perfect for her. In the gawd forbid situation all she needs to do is put a round on the target, dead center or outer ring makes no difference, center mass, round anywhere on the target is a win !

Yup, there's a case where a very pregnant woman picked up an AR for the first time, put the dot where the bullets needed to be, and successfully defended her husband and children.

I've participated in lots of First Shot events, Community Outreaches and New Shooter Introductions. So much easier to tell the NooB to "Put the dot where you want the bullet to go" rather than walking them through the mystical peaks and valleys of iron sights. A quick success with the red dot makes for so much more fun.

Plus, my eyes have taken early retirement, and the front sight is now only a cherished memory. ;) Gawd, for the days when I was always the first to pick up the turning mark on the far horizon.

I have always, since the summer of love “ that a holster would be a wise thing to have as long as I was going down that road. I started researching and was amazed at how many options there are and that the majority are concealed carry, there most be a ton of people concealed carry out and about. I don’t want that so my options were not as many but this is what I ordered for the range or apocalyptic show of force.
Ordered for my specific model and accessories

Over there
There are far too many holsters available and fuck all way to try them without buying one. The first one might not be the one! A Vet/instructor told me he has a bucket of unused holsters at home...

I've done classes and certs with a Kydex OWB from either 'We The People' or 'Bare Arms' and I have an IWB from Beretta if I do carry my little Beretta. It was also recommended I look at Blade-Tech and Alien Gear.

I now run and gun at the range with $afariland holsters and their active retention, hung off a duty belt, no leg strap. The red dot holster cost $245 tho!

Although dry fire/draw is your friend, take a pistol/carry class! The real trick is being able to train with a loaded gun from any holster...

lol.. yea it’s like an occasional fisherman buying lures at a big box sports store. 99.9 % of gun homicide or robbery is committed with simple non maintained non accessorized guns.
I simply want to be able to have a place to put/carry a pistol when I am not facing down range.
This country is loaded with law abiding citizens armed to the teeth 🫠 Like I said most of the holsters seem to be designed and sold to CC bipeds

For concealed go "We the People" holsters, they are about as good as it gets. For outside the waistband that you might have to run with or move with on the range, go Safariland. Those two companies produce the most trustworthy holsters that will work in most situations.
Avoid cheap holsters, and make sure the one you buy is for your gun.

Lastly, you are not wrong, there are a ton of people that carry daily. Spend your career learning to spot guns on people and you realize what percentage of the population (at least in Oklahoma) are armed. I don't even blink or worry when people tell me they are armed on traffic stops, it just part of doing business in this state, and in 10 years I have yet to have a single issue with a person who informed me they were carrying. The few issues that have arose were when I was surprised by a gun, that's never ideal.

Rimfires are the most fun. The are the beginning and the end game of every good riflemans career haha.
And they’re fun to shoot. Really. I still have my single shot 22 rifle from savage. Just a joy. The ammo is the right price as well.

Don’t understand estimate the .22
For a while I was hooked on Forensic Files and it was surprising how many murders were committed with that caliber
