Both eyes.......
What to do when you are left-handed mostly but shoot right-handed? I naturally tend to use my right eye and send everything about 6" right of target at 30-50 feet. If I close my right eye and use the left, I can get most rounds in the black.

Both eyes is for a red dot sight bringing the firearm onto the target, I am surmising . It’s a muscle/ mental memory thing , avoiding the tendency to wave the gun around trying to get the red dot on target. Actually the same thing is done with iron sights

So the great advantage of the red dot pistol sight is that it honestly doesn't matter what eye you use, what hand you use.

I'm left eye dominant, but right handed. If you watch me closely I actually line up the sight with my left eye but keep both eyes open, due to focusing on the target while using a red dot and not having to focus on something up close you the image from both eyes will superimpose just like normal life while you walk around. Day to day you don't see two images, your brain does the work of combining the input from both eyes, with a red dot sight you should be doing the same thing vs with iron sights you should have been focusing hard on the front sight and making the rest of the world blurry.

Yes - the barrel unscrews. I did not try that when I disassembled and cleaned it, but YouTube videos show that it's possible given sufficient torque and appropriate clamping. I'm not going to play with that - let sleeping dogs lie etc...

The reason I was worrying about the bullets tumbling is a comment on one of the Winchester owners forums about a guy with a similar rifle of a similar age getting good accuracy with slow heavy bullets but lousy accuracy and keyholes in targets when moving to the faster copper hunting rounds. Turns out that it was not an issue when I tried the copper ammo for the first time today. He probably has something else wrong (worn rifling, or damaged muzzle or some such).

Depends on which is your dominant eye.

Wifey is right-handed, but left eye dominant. She had a lot of problems with accuracy until we moved the rifle to her left shoulder. She now shoots rifles and pistols under her left eye. Much better.

The cross dominance issue is a lot more noticeable with archery. I've had some success just putting a piece of scotch tape over the left lens of my glasses to force my right eye to pick up the slack. With enough practice my right eye retains some of that benefit without the tape, but it fades away pretty quickly and becomes more fatiguing. Same approach works with scopes and dots. Easy way to improve round scores.

Helps me keep both eyes open, making getting on target and spotting hits easier when zoomed in.

Or… learning to shoot without using any sights until hand eye and muscle memory gets you on the target. Then start working in the sights, which is what happens with all good shooters whether they realize it or not .
Unless you are a competitive shooter the ability to land any shot on the target anywhere every time is a win for a home defense shooter.

So in archery I’m a right hand shooter (means the bow is in my left hand) but right eye dominate. That doesn’t work very well sighting the bow because the bow sight is on the left for a right handed draw. I had to work really hard to learn to sight with my left eye. I actually have to close my right eye to sight with the left. With long gun or pistol it’s not a problem for me shooting right handed and sighting with my right eye. Not sure why except that the shooting stance is very different with firearms.

It's been many years since I shot a bow an arrow, but always used my right dominant eye and hand on the string and bow in left hand; I thought that was normal?
