Did you say "hold your course" at any time during this incident ? If you did, then he should have hit you, then protested you. Seriously though, was this just a wave by a random crewmember or was there some discourse like you hailing "cross " very loudly and clearly , then a wave by the helmsman ? Was this one design or phrf racing ?

I know a few people who won't respond to "tack or cross?" or wave anyone across specifically because of this. Waving someone across is not recognized under the RROS and relying on someone's wave leaves your dick swinging in the breeze.

there are ways to protect against the lee bow and yes I agree I have let port guys  keep going the wrong way. But this whole waving you across crap is nothing but trouble waiting to happen.
