A chance to contribute to its restoration

Also, of note, The New York Harbor Sailing foundation offers sails on US42 and US46 where you can take part in the action - a per-sail contribution is required. Both boats are active during the season sailing in the Northeast US.

Ernies boat yes?
It was a gift to Valencia, a gift the city never wanted to get. Bringing her back to Switzerland would have been quite expensive, hence the "generous" present. He just walked away and left it ?
not an expert at all, but the carbon fibre end product you see is carbon fibre + cured resins. because the bond is so strong, it makes separating them impractical. Why can't carbon fiber be shredded and re-used?
I guess a solution would be to repurpose the shredded material into something else. There's gotta be something that can be done.not an expert at all, but the carbon fibre end product you see is carbon fibre + cured resins. because the bond is so strong, it makes separating them impractical.
kind of like reversing a scrambled egg to quote the idiom.
You can recycle carbon fibre to some extent. But like all recycling it takes effort, and energy. So cost effectiveness and whether it is worth it for the environment can be a different matterI guess a solution would be to repurpose the shredded material into something else. Some methods described here
I have sailed the one that was based for years in San Diego, it may still be there. Was fun to steer.Out of curiosity, how many here know there is a replica of the original America in the wild, sailing I believe on the US NE coast? I was talking recently to someone who was amazed none of us had heard of it. I realise it may be a biased sample here.
