Correct, the river is the Seine and the club I'm looking for is on the Seine. Association Voile de l'Ailette is, I think, a lake club.

Here's a shot of part of the club. There's a clue on its name. Who will solve it first? Tillerman! All is not lost! Der Dude, you are so close!

That'a a very fine shed. Looks like the YC has Seine in its name.

Not sure about shed. I had thought race box but it is too small for that?

I said if you could figure the river, the club would not be hard. Yes the club has "Seine" in the name.

I think that's more of a sailing school. The club I am looking for is further downstream anyway.

Oh yes, race box, not shed. The step ladder in my last photo makes the perspective funky.

Interestingly that club is fairly close to Paris. I wasn't aware of the fact that there were sailing opportunities on the outskirts of the city.
So, dogwatch, do you have a boat on the Seine and hop on a plane or the Eurostar to compete on the Seine?

I have a slight confession, when I set out to do this, I was looking for a club on the Seine at which I crewed at a keelboat regatta many years ago. I realised next day I got it wrong, it had been this. The rather upmarket Le Cercle de la Voile de Paris http://cercledelavoiledeparis.fr/. I thought I'd better stick with the club I'd mis-chosen, which looks very pleasant too.

I have memories of running against the current, ultra-close to the trees on the bank, twigs and leaves falling on the deck. I thought we'd come to a dead halt on a branch but the helm got it right. Also, of the French heartily singing anti-British songs. I think it was meant in fun, I think.

The 2022 RS Aero 9 German National Championships were held in September on the Starnbergersee in Bavaria. I don't expect that is the right answer but it does look like a beautiful spot for a regatta.

It looks gorgeous. Other than boring business trips to Munich, I haven't visited Bavaria.

I've just done a puzzle, does anyone else want to set one, preferably someone who hasn't done so lately? Fine by me if so. I'll hold off for 24 hours.

Nobody else wants to post a puzzle. I suspect after 338 pages this thread has run out of puff. Oh well. This club used to be big on the fleet shown but it looks like not so much today.

Ah Scorpions. Another dinghy from the plywood dinghy boom, haven't seen one in some time.
Iirc they were built for the south west coast of England, so that and the background tend to indicate that way somewhere.
