That helps...I was looking at "deciduous trees", 2 ft tidal range...probably Atlantic ocean

But that left a lot of the eastern seaboard of the US and Canada.

Seems too sunny for UK...so is the mystery location in Canada?

Another clue - this regatta was not an RS Aero event but it was won by an RS Aero world champion.

Ok...the flags were a side-track...the only boat with a readable name is "reckless" which doesn't help a bit.

I'm going to stick with the trees that look like maples and tidal range...

It is not on the eastern seaboard of the US. The trees may well be maples. My friend Google just confirmed that maples do grow at this location.

The flags are a strong geographical clue - not a side-track at all. All except one represent nations sailing in this regatta.

Nice clue! About 50 miles west of Izmir might be the Arkas Cesme Yelken Gençlik ve Spor Kulübü, between Boyalik Plaji and Ilica Halk Plaji.
