Who does NOT have classified documents? Anyone?

I’d be ok with redacting the names of non government officials for half a century. Our own government employees and elected leaders should have their names and actions exposed to daylight while they are still alive to face their grandchildren. Unfortunately that’s hard when we elect geezers.
The names are always coded except in the really, really deep compartmentalized docs, problem is the nature of certain information betrays the existence of a mole, and since they are betrayed secrets there is typically not a large number of people to investigate. Once the hounds are on the track...

The problem with this is that if everybody has them, then Trump can make it out to be
"no worse than those other guys"...and once again, he'll get away with it.

I think the key will be based on a few things -
1. The TYPES of classified docs. Were they Top Secret/HUMINT/etc.? Or, of a lesser category?
2. Are they all accounted for? Empty folders for some suspects suggests "No".
3. Were these individuals AWARE they had them? Having them commingled with recent correspondence for some suspects suggests "Yes".

Nah. That's logical. There is no logic, reason, or decency behind why the orange menace is not personally in court, or behind bars. The list of criminal shit he's done is longer than all our arms put together, but 25 millions Americans think he's God. Ergo, he can do whatever he wants, 'cuz we (the proverbial "we") be 'a-skeered o the consequences of doing what's right.

Pence: 'Mistakes were made' in classified records handling

Former Vice President Mike Pence said Friday that he takes “full responsibility” after classified documents were found at his Indiana home.

In his first public comments since the discovery, Pence said he hadn't been aware that the documents were in his residence but acknowledged his lack of awareness wasn't an excuse.
“Let me be clear: Those classified documents should not have been in my personal residence,” Pence said at Florida International University, where he was talking about the economy and promoting his new book, “So Help Me God." “Mistakes were made, and I take full responsibility."

The proper response.

I'm not a huge fan of Mike Pence's politics but at least the guy can own it when he fucks up.... and he won't kowtow to destroying the US political process. That puts him in a totally different league from TFG.

At the risk of stating the bleeding obvious, non of us are in top government positions and required to take "red boxes" home to manage a very much NOT 9-5 in the office workload.
Unsurprisingly, you are wrong again Meli. My home office contained literally hundreds of Cabinet-in-confidence documents from 3 years of working remotely. Since retiring, I have used them as fire-starters during winter and now all are gone, leaving just tantalising file covers. It can be innocent and it can be appropriately managed. Of course, all were electronically filed, and also hard-copy printed at the main office before my copies were burned (our records are NEVER disposed of).

Your mistake is known as "judging others by your own standards".

Do I get to call you " The Honorable" or just plain Sir?

Are you telling me that you didn't have to sign for those documents?
Things must have changed since I was working for the Dept of Defence.

Does she have any? The only 2 I've ever been able to identify that she possesses are inconsistency & hypocrisy. They're definitely standards for her.

There are other means of document control. Plenty of people knew, or could find out, what I had. And when I had no further reason to hold a document, it was understood that it would be destroyed (in case of burglary). My home was assessed for security against burglary.

I have a mate who was on the property security side of things at DoD. His opinion was that just about everyone working there (brass included) were fuckwits.

For normal folks facing polygraphs each year, the issue always was how will this sound when hooked up. I never failed and my ex-wife said I didn't have that ability.

My biggest gripes with Pence are 1) he didn't 25th Amendment the fuckstain well before the 2020 election and 2) he should have 25th'd his ass after the failed coup attempt. For that, Pence can rot in hell.

The 25th doesn't give the VP any unilateral power. It sez:

Whenever the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments or of such other body as Congress may by law provide

I'm not defending Pence here. Fly boy was a piece of shit. It's just that Shitstain's Cabinet wasn't going to do anything, 25th or not. In fact, many individually resigned instead of doing anything which only increased the difficulty of the remainder invoking the 25th.

That said, Pence did de minimis. He presided over the Electoral Vote Count. That was still enough to warrant death threats from Republicans. Big whoop. AOC gets a dozen a day and as we saw from Paul Pelosi, you can't take these things lightly.

It was a Cabinet of cunts who were just going to lie there. Chao's husband was just going to lie there. But Pence did do de minimis.

Yeah, I'm well aware of how the 25th works. I think early on when he was becoming erratic and threatening to nuke Jyhna, I think there might have been enough support in the cabinet to do something. And, I think an attempt at a 25th, even if unsuccessful - would have shook things up.

None of those sycophants would have stood up to slow down the cash flow into their Panama accounts.
