I'm always amazed when liars get upset over being called out on their lies...especially after they even admitted to lying.

It's "the boy who cried wolf" except that nowadays, there are so many dumbasses eager to be lied to, that the end of the story never comes.

The lawyer hired by Republican congressman George Santos to defend him in a swindling case in Brazil was convicted of participating in a death squad linked to the former "vans mafia" in São Gonçalo, in the metropolitan region of Rio de Janeiro.

Jonymar Vasconcelos, 47, was sentenced to 18 years in prison in 2007 by Judge Patrícia Accioli, who was murdered four years later by militiaman police officers. In 2004, the lawyer was paid to kill a mechanic who refused to fix kombis for free and was not satisfied with being expelled from the transport cooperative.

On December 3 of that year, around 6:30 a.m., four men on two motorcycles went to the mechanic's house, surrendered his wife and shot him in front of his brother. Vasconcelos remained on the motorcycle, waiting for the execution, according to the Public Ministry.

At the time he committed the crime, the lawyer was a 3rd sergeant in the Navy. (...)

Contacted, Vasconcelos says he has already responded for the crime and that the process has already been extinguished. He served about five years behind bars until 2009, when he progressed to house arrest and started studying law at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). (...)

Vasconcelos represents Santos in the case in which the politician confessed to having used stolen and worthless checks to buy clothes and shoes in Niterói, in 2008 - reopened when the lies about the congressman's resume began to emerge. On the 18th, the lawyer managed to keep the case confidential, as revealed by Folha. (...)

Folha asked George Santos if he was aware of his defender's background and how he found him, since he is not connected to a law firm and has no contacts listed on the internet.

In response to the report, Santos first replied by message that he did not understand Portuguese, despite being the son of Brazilians and having lived for years in Brazil. When the questions were sent in English, the congressman stopped answering.

George Santos Plays Hide-out

Embattled Republican Rep. George Santos will not serve on the two House committees to which he was assigned until a slew of investigations into his campaign and personal finances have concluded, he said in a statement Tuesday. — CNBC, Jan. 31, 2023

Statement from the Office of the Honorable George Santos

For Immediate Release

Representative George Santos (R-NY) today announced that he will no longer participate in “media-orchestrated perp walks” between his office in the Longworth House Office Building to the Capitol.

“I had hoped that these daily perambulations, in addition to fulfilling my Fitbit-mandated step requirements, would be occasions for me to ponder how to best to serve my constituents,” Representative Santos said. “Sadly, the left-wing-dominated media have made this impossible by turning them into Bataan Death Marches.”

Representative Santos will instead remain sequestered in his office except when needed for meetings with lawyers and investigators (and House votes).

BREAKING NEWS: SANTOS ALLEGES ASSAULT

WASHINGTON — Representative George Santos claimed on Monday that he was “grievously wounded” when a reporter “attacked me with an iPhone as I was on my way to the Capitol to serve the needs of my constituents in New York’s fabulous Third District.”

Santos said the “assault caused severe trauma” and necessitated “being helicoptered” to an unspecified hospital, where “surgeons worked heroically on me for 9½ hours to remove the iPhone embedded in my thorax.”

Santos said he would be withdrawing further from public view, remaining in his office at all times. Aides could be seen carrying a king-size mattress and an Xbox console into his House suite.

Statement from the Office of the Honorable George Santos

For Immediate Release

Representative George Santos (R-N.Y.) announced that because of his “ongoing recovery after being viciously attacked by a member of the liberal media,” he will be unable to attend his 15th class reunion at the Horace Mann School this spring.

Santos expressed “profound regret” at not being able to “participate in the joyous occasion and share memories with my classmates.”

Further, he said, “My time at Horace Mann was literally unbelievable,” adding that he continues “to live up to Horace Mann’s admonishment that ‘One should be ashamed to die until one has done something for humanity.’”

Statement from the Office of the Honorable George Santos

For Immediate Release

Representative George Santos (R-N.Y.) today announced, “Contrary to reports in the Democrat-dominated media that I have been quote-unquote AWOL, I have been fully engaged, 24/7, working to serve the needs of New York’s wonderful Third Congressional District.”

Mr. Santos stated, “I am offering a new model of effective leadership — less is more. The less you see of me, the more everyone will be happy.”

He expressed his “heartfelt desire” that he will someday be able to “leave my office and visit with the amazing people of NY3, including the 77 percent whom pollsters falsely claim despise me.”

Bombshell secret tapes have caught embattled Republican congressman George Santos admitting that he “lied to everyone” following a wave of allegations and admissions that he fabricated most of his professional profile and resume before he was elected in November.

In the audio obtained by Talking Points Memo, Mr Santos is heard telling a prospective staffer that he had lied, including to his chief of staff Charley Lovett.

“I’ve obviously f***** up and lied to him, like I lied to everyone else,” he says in the audio. “And he still forgave me and gave me a second shot, unlike some other people.”

In the recording, Mr Santos is also heard offering advice about Botox, saying: “Stop going to Colombia for your diluted Botox.”

The candid insight into Mr Santos’ office comes as he stood down from his committee assignments this week amid mounting scrutiny into his campaign finances.

Federal law enforcement also is reportedly investigating a claim that he stole money from a GoFundMe set up to pay for surgery for a disabled veteran’s dying dog.

^^^ Derek Myers, a reporter from Ohio, was trying a job on a volunteer basis last month, working toward a respectable offer to serve as a congressman’s staff assistant for a $50,000 salary. The offer sounded like a lock except for one thing: His boss would be George Santos, who is not known for doing what he says. After a preliminary offer and a week of unpaid work, Santos rescinded the job — and insulted Myers on his way out.

George Santos Raised Money for Dogs. It's Unclear Where It All Went.

Bank fraud is frowned upon.

Money had come in from raffles and sales of gift baskets; a few pets had found new homes. All in all, the adoption charity event at a Pet Oasis store on Staten Island had been a success.

But then the charity’s leader made an odd request: He insisted that the store owner give him the proceeds in a check made out to his name, Anthony Devolder.

The owner refused and made the check payable to the charity, Friends of Pets United. Days later, when he looked at his bank records, he noticed that the check had been altered: The charity’s name had been blotted out. “When it cashed, it was crossed out, and it had Anthony Devolder written on it,” said the owner, Daniel Avissato.

Whoever cashed the check with the crossed out and altered name is also in deep shit.
