Thanks. Yes, sailed the race without autopilot, so no gennaker, only at the end in light airs.

The autopilot was not scope of the boatyards´work. Jan installed a NKE system and a this Jefa direct drive unit with a rod to the rudder drum.

I would prefer a smaller linear autopilot drive type LD100 with ropes to the tiller. The installation was done in 2 days and only 4 hours testing on the water, the installation was provisional.

He ill do everything in a watertight box.

What do you mean by’ropes tied to the tiller’?

That was a good insight into the boat, the sailor, the difficulties in preparation, and the race. Thank you.

The ropes will become pulled back by elastic cords after releasing.

Hans, do you put the strings directly on the lever of the Jefa drive?
It must be a quite strong drive unit?!

Holger
No, the Jefa dive is connected to a small traveller. But this a well balanced boat, you can steer her with two fingers at 35 degrees of heeling and with full control. Everyone who sailed the boat states that is very unique. The huge CFD work and the last fine tuning on the water were worth doing it.

The angle of the runner looks quite odd. That increases the load on the runner tail quite a bit.

And a traditional compass on the mast? I thought it's a race boat. ;)

Sorry for the late reply. With this attachment the mast become bended strait to the aft. We do not want to pull the mast to to the windward side. Flex is fast ...
But very big loads on the runner tail are needed, to get some load on the runner itself.
