See Admiralty 30 without a trailer or carbon mast? Or a 210. Could you make them ocean racers? Uffa sailed from England to Scandinavia through storms with a 22 or 30 sq meter, crew of 3. And his tux stayed pressed and dry. Bruce did Hawaii in a modified 30 sq. Maybe for SH, a needle might be better than a fatty? Less sail area to handle too.Like $35-50k?
@Silverrudder we called it "a Kate Moss butt vs.a Kim Kardashian.... Kates was winning at the end....and in reality tooMaybe for SH, a needle might be better than a fatty? Less sail area to handle too.
^_^ Cheaper (boat -_- ) too? Always wondered about a poor man’s Admiralty 30, barely tortured ply, chines, maybe, flat bottom, no flare. It'd be wet- a cross between a 10 series or low rider moth hull and the A30^? Unstayed sliding gunter (unstayed bottom mast), runners to the topmast? Foils or topmast/sail development (windsurfer masts?) might be the most expensive part? Transom? Pintail?@Silverrudder we called it "a Kate Moss butt vs.a Kim Kardashian.... If only I would withdraw, but this manner of design & build, ostensively a treatise on postmodernity, is also significant, as it acts on our public conduct in this here court of sailing OPs. B)Like this?

Not as extreme, but optimising a Van de Stadt 'Black Soo' could be cost effective with the bonus of an age allowance, and there seem to be a few about.^_^ Cheaper (boat -_- ) too? Not to scale, or even close, below…. : kind of the difference between the original Contender and what got the nod. Ah, rainy days & 50 degree weather are so conducive to vapor boats….
Is minimalism the bar there?I was the 2nd owner of Starbuck the Black Soo 31 from '97-'06. She was a very good point to point and shorthanded boat. Many overall race and season victories including the Singlehanded Longpac and Transpac. The 3rd owner who is building an RoG trailer sailer sold her to another Singlehanded Sailing Society sailor recently. I know of one other in the USA and it's build quality was quit poor, not many around here.
I've also sailed the JS9000 quite a bit and there is no way I'd go out into a blow in the Gulf of the Farallones like I did many times with Starbuck.
Whats wrong?
