Is this one of those Tickling the Dragon scenarios? Was that incident brain-dead or what? And the median IQ of that room was probably a buck sixty-plus. Raises an interesting question of critical-mass IQ creating elemental stupid. Talk about a black hole!

I guess because reckless ignorance can be a trait of stupid, average and intelligent people? I used to eat a slice of pizza from Mariella's on the lab bench with Polonium samples for the scintillation machine. Dumb luck that I didn't poison myself. Angels protect drunks and idiots I guess.

But Slotin, yeah, that was him being a showoff daredevil, he had no reason to fuck around with a subcritical core like that. And he knew better.
