Again, I'm not entirely disputing what you say. However everybody is different. Some people are talented in some areas and not in others. Some people are strong, many aren't. Some folks will never be able to do what you say. Some will.Everyone chooses how to journey through this existence. I learned early that some people suck, there is evil in the world and bad things happen. Often the only thing I always had complete control over was……me. My reaction and “feelings” were completely mine. So people choose. I choose not to give away that power to anyone else….much less assholes. Others may choose differently. My life has been quite placid since understanding that.
Kipling knew……..
If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,
And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:
If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;
If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools:
If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: ‘Hold on!’
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!
Not everybody is capable of or doesn't know how to chose their journey through their existence, no matter what you, Kipling or anybody else thinks or says.
I think repeating what you say over and over isn't at all helpful. It works for you great. I've done it my way, and I'm happy I did. But not everybody does that or can do that and I think we need to respect that. Being born in the right place, at the right time, with the right genes has a lot to do with it.
I don't think you mean it that way, but I don't think it's unreasonable for some people to think your attitude could be self righteous, condescending and lacking in empathy for others. Quite honestly, I question why you feel the need to express these ideas here pretty often. I think that might reveal something more about you than what you relate here. Or maybe my reaction reveals something more about me. Or both. Just my opinion of course.
I have nothing but time on my hands so I like to ponder these kind things.
