How we react to a perceived insult varies. You may have a a profound psychedelic experience with feelings of unity and "connectedness", don't assume others feel connected to you. No matter how much you think being indoctrinated with "love thy neighbour" or some happy clappy hippy bullshit will impact on that reaction it can be impaired. Drugs, alcohol, depression, anxiety, psychosis, infection, hypoxia "passion" especially in with young men and testosterone influencing them.  Ive worked for 40 yrs in a tertiary trauma hospital. Ive seen even the most meek and god fearing strike out out family and loved ones for no apparent reason. Our trauma wards, head injury wards, morgues and cemeteries are well represented with the result of that momentary lapse of reason, resulting in life changing injuries and a lifetime of regret. My colleagues in the US have been frequently assaulted by hypoxic confused patients about to end up on ventilators due to covid. So sure comment on Smiths reaction, but I say again If you perceive that your job description involves insulting others, and you dont expect a reaction then your naive. Don't assume you can always read how that reaction is going to go.

If a comedian is going to take the piss out of someone, and doesn’t expect to get the shit kicked out him/her/whatever on occasion, then they are probably in the wrong business, even in the facile land of make believe. Life imitating art imitating life. Who really gives a shit.

About six months in the coronavirus lockdown, I started watching a lot of stand up comedy on Amazon Prime; lots of really talented comedians.  Except for the Australian comics.  They sucked so badly I couldn't take more than fifteen minutes.  Guess your comment explains why.

One of them broke that across my ass in 4th grade in a line of victims. I laughed at her so hard that she told me to sit down, went to the next classroom and returned with the aluminum yardstick. She beat the rest of the line(including my crying twin brother) and when it would bend, she would put it over her knee and straighten it back out!
 

Dumb bitch, she should have known that we couldn’t understand “new math” and they couldn’t explain something as simple as the metric system to children.

You may be under some delusional thought that because I’m Australian, that I believe in everything Australian. What makes you think that I should like the beer or the comedians or anything else? We certainly have our fair share of arseholes like elsewhere. I suppose one thing we don’t tend to do (or certainly not when I was young), was to indoctrinate our children that this was god’s chosen land, we should salute the flag, and stuff anyone that doesn’t believe in our brand of democracy. They are going to ban will for a slap,  there are probably dozens academy members that have been convicted of felonies, that are still members.   Gotta love Hollywood..about as mental as congress
