Good spotting. Sounds like he was using pre-preg! I guess if you have some laying around, why not. But geez if you have some laying around, I'll take it off your hands!
I'm assuming that's carbon fiber impregnated with epoxy activated by exposure to air?

Maybe they are going to float er after all! Seriously... I was at the pond the other day for another rowing race but at high tide. It almost looked easy there was so much water... assuming you draw no more than a few inches.

Anyway... hopefully we'll see soon.
Noooooooooo! Don't start that argument again!

Besides, I assume they could float her without sealing the openings. Seems it only makes sense for long term maintenance (or lack thereof!) It does make me think she may be floating in the pond though.

Kind of, carbon cloth impregnated with epoxy. But usually needs heat to kick it off. Like you'd throw a heater on it if it was outside. I doubt they're looking to get a perfect finish out of it though.

"a piece of heavy and large 'equipment'......"

Being all carbon fiber she's not that heavy I hope! Large and cumbersome for sure.

All SAAC photogs will be on duty we hope? Can we have a roll call?

I know where I'll be Saturday morning! If anyone wants to meet at Oracleville PM me.

Stopped by 80 this morning. Activity on board, 2 tenders tied near DZ.

Good to see her in the water, but she looks naked without the wing.

It will be interesting to see how they display her. Wonder if they will use the cradle?

It's interesting that they will float then fly. Flying from 80 would probably add 10 minutes to the flight. Probably less time then it will take to rig her in the water.

Can not fly the sky crane loaded through SFO or Oakland Airport airspace, or populated areas other than specifically stated for permission under the flight plan.

Is she docked at Pier 32(ish) next door to LR / ETNZ base?

Well that ^ looks like Pier 80 to me - but then I've never been there...

Here is a blast from the past. Could live without the soundtrack and wonder why they stopped short of showing the splash. That cradle has served her well. Funny to see it laying empty at pier 80. That alone must be worth a Hundred Grand!

Should be a LOT more dramatic tomorrow though.
